About this video

Three workers show how the place you work changes your job. A public health investigator visits patients at their homes, a remote worker compares working from home to an old office job with business casual dress, and a construction inspector in Colorado loves working outside nearly every day.

You'll be able to

  • describe different work locations, such as in the field, remote and in an office.
  • explain how a work location affects daily life at work.
  • say which work setting might suit me.

Transcript

(bright rolling music) - The day in the life of a public health investigator would be going out to the field, conducting field visits on patients that have been positive for TB, tuberculosis, or sexually transmitted diseases. So basically, we would go and visit patients at their residence, and either letting them know that they've been positive or that they've been named by somebody that has tested positive for a sexually transmitted disease.

- My job is fully remote. And that's in comparison to my old roles, where this was pre COVID, so I'm not sure if it's the same, but I used to have to go into the office every day, wear business casual. Ya know, I was working for people who were always in ties.

So just like a very different work environment.

- What I enjoy most about being a construction specter is that I get to be outside, working in the field pretty much every single day. Ya know, there'll be the odd rainy day or snowy day, being in Colorado. But really being able to be outside, working with people from all sorts of different backgrounds is really special for me.
