(upbeat music) - You know, four years after teaching a student, you know, seeing them at their graduation and them recalling a quote you once wrote them on a note and seeing that, you know, the words that you gave them are still sticking with them, right? So I think just the relationships and the opportunity that you have to, you know, affect the lives of young people is probably the biggest joy of my role.
- What people don't know about it is parents can be providers, meaning you can get paid to take care of your child in some cases. So for many families that's three, four, $5,000 more a month than they're getting right now, and they didn't even know it existed.
So being able to like tell somebody about that and then make it happen for them in a matter of a week, a month, is incredibly gratifying.
- I think it's so invaluable to be able to come in as an anesthesiologist and establish a relationship with them, at least briefly and very quickly, but giving them that comfort and reassurance, knowing that you're gonna be the person that's really responsible for their life while they're asleep.
- We ended up getting that provider out to him that day, and for me, I think it was one of the happiest, you know, like one of the best rewards I'd ever gotten, just thinking about how much more relieved that mother was. (upbeat music)
