About this video

A quick tour of the basic data types programs use: integers (whole numbers), floats (numbers with decimal points), Booleans (true or false) and strings of characters, which need quotation marks.

You'll be able to

  • name four primitive data types: integer, float, Boolean and string.
  • identify the data type of a simple value such as 7, 2.5, True or "hi".

Key words

integer
A whole number, like 7 or -3.
float
A number with a decimal point, like 2.5.
Boolean
