About this video
A short motivational video arguing that algebra is the unifying thread of almost all of mathematics. It gives examples of where algebra is used, such as computer game design and artificial intelligence, and says that mastering it helps you decode complex systems.
You'll be able to
- explain why algebra is called the unifying thread of mathematics.
- name real-world fields where algebra is used.
Key words
- algebra
- The part of maths that uses letters and symbols to stand for numbers so we can describe patterns and solve for unknowns.
- complex system
- Something with many connected parts, like a game engine or an AI, whose behaviour can be described with maths.

- Algebra is really the unifying thread of almost all of mathematics. You may think algebra is boring, but it is the one tool you can use to not only understand, but unlock the universe. Creative algebra is used in computer game design. It powers how artificial intelligence works.
Mastering algebra will provide you with the ability to decode and understand many complex systems. In my opinion, if you can master algebra, you can master anything.
